The Research Institute of Korean Studies (RIKS) developed a comprehensive Korean language database in the process of compiling a Chinese-Korean dictionary and a Korean dictionary. Through the publication of research papers and academic texts which were written with the help of this database, RIKS has also contributed to the development of lexicographical research in Korea. Based on these achievements, the Center for Lexicography was established in RIKS in March 2013. In addition to performing tasks related to the planning and promotion of dictionary compilation, the Center for Lexicography conducts lexicographical research and presents its findings at academic conferences. This research center also seeks to share its expertise in the application of vocabulary resources with relevant parties, including researchers. Through this process, it strives to form a productive research network and to contribute to the development of the lexicographical field and the world of dictionary compilation.
